Pi Kappa Alpha

Pi Kappa Alpha will set the standard of integrity, intellect, and achievement for our members, host institutions, and the communities in which we live.

I believe that our Fraternity demonstrates our mission statement very well but at the same time we fail to follow in our Founder's footsteps. Our members demonstrate all three of our values of integrity, intellect, and achievement most of the time but not all of the time. We demonstrate intellect by studying and having an amazing work ethic in which we strive for excellence. We put an emphasis on getting good grades and we even have to do a certain number of study hours in each week. I think we fail in our integrity the most though. Integrity is doing what you know is right and sometimes we don't do this. Making fun of other brothers, whether it just be goofing or joking around, is not acceptable. Making fun of brothers is one of our biggest problems and those actions do not reflect our mission statement.

Nike

Good afternoon followers,

I know it was already in the blog prompt but I decided to go with Nike. Why did I pick Nike? I believe that the company has a great value that I admire greatly and that value is inspiration. Whether it be through there great campaigns such as livestrong and the human race, or through their fantastic commercials Nike is always challenging and inspiring people to be the best. One of my favorite Nike commercials involves Lebron James. Throughout the commercial he talks about how he worked hard to get where he is now. At the end of the commercial he says I don't want you to be me, I want you to be better than me. I freaked out after I saw this commercial because I thought it was probably the greatest commercial I had ever seen. I got chills. Be better than me? Hell Yeah I'm gonna be better than you. I thought it was very admirable that Nike was challenging us through Lebron and inspiring us to do great things.

What are your values and what do they mean to you?

Good Morning Ladies,

So this weeks blog is all about values. Values are obviously important in everyones life because they shape our views about our world. Everyone has different values. Everyone has similar values. My mother and father have helped me shape my values. My mom, among her many values, demonstrates affection like no other. She is the beast at showing affection. She shows affection every minute of every day. Whether it's by teaching her kids at school (she teaches 2nd grade) and truly caring whether or not they learn something or just by doing simple acts like our laundry or making dinner she shows affection through these tasks. I've learned affection from her and apply it to my everyday life. I try and be nice and caring in dealing with my everyday situations. I try and use patience when dealing with stressful situations that happen everyday. I've learned these all from my mom.

Another one of my strong values is amusement. I like to make people laugh, actually I love to make people laugh. It gives me a great feeling when I tell a joke or a story and I see people laugh hysterically. I love that feeling. I love being the class clown or that ice breaker in an awkward situation. Laughter is really the best medicine and I prescribe it all the time.

Who Are You and How Do You Want to Change the World

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Welcome to Zack Niehaus' blog. Here we will encounter magical topics each week and, God willing, I'll be able to provide you with a little bit of entertainment every week. This weeks topic is all about who I am and truthfully I am the man. Now this may seem a little conceited and vain but throughout these 10 weeks you'll be able to see the truth. Whale hunting, deep sea scuba diving, and flying my private plane are among my many plethra of interests. Just kidding, I like doing what all college kids love to do, which is just hang out and chill. My true passion is golf. I wish I could play golf everyday of my life and get paid for it. Unfortunately my dream can't become my reality which is why I'm majoring in business. I hope to be a financial advisor one day and obviously have a lot of free time to play golf. I'll most likely have so much free time because by the time I graduate I should be able to beast the stock market. I hope to retire at 45 and move down to South Carolina where I will engage in my favorite past time, "wasting away again in margaritaville".  I aspire to be like my hero Kenny Powers, if you don't know who that is google it, you'll be amazed.

How do I want to change the world you ask? In whatever way possible. I'm a Catholic and believe pretty heavily in doing good things and help others. A book I read in high school had a memorable phrase that I try to follow through on, "become the best version of yourself". I feel I can help the world best by becoming the best version of myself and trying to make everyone around me better. Growing up to be a financial advisor/entrepeneur wouldn't hurt the world either because I'd have a buttload of money and be able to donate to charities and stuff.

Thanks for coming out,
Zack
